Business Transformation for Life: Thinking about Implementing Dynamics AX (and related systems) with Long-term Support in Mind
This session is built around why it is important to consider ongoing usage/support/maintenance of a system from the start.  At each phases (Analysis, Planning, Implementation, Go-Live…) there are different things that should be taken into consideration regarding ongoing plans once the project is live.  And making those decisions up front is critical to uncover gaps, avoid poor adoption, insure that company gets the most out of their investment ongoing. This session will highlight these important items with a nice analogy to family in life. Don't miss the chance to hear how all these things relate!

Configuring Financial Approvals and Workflows Within Dynamics AX - Part I Journals
Workflows and approval processes within Dynamics AX must be one of the most underused, and also most useful features of the application, and that may be because everyone thinks that they are complicated to set up and require a developer in order to get them working. And that’s a shame, because nothing could be further from the truth. The built in approval processes within Dynamics AX can be set up and running within a few minutes to control simple transactions, and workflows only take a fraction longer to configure and then allow you to convert all of your archaic paper and informal business approval processes into a streamlined and controlled business process that you can track, audit, and report off. In this first of a two part session on financial workflows, we will focus on workflows around journals. We will review the set up and operation of workflow around journal access and approval.

Understanding the Client/Server Cache
Microsoft Dynamics AX performance relies on the underlying data processing capabilities of SQL Server and the supporting server architecture. The of the most important elements of this architecture is the ability to cache data retrieved from the SQL database on the Client and the AOS Server, reducing the need for unnecessary roundtrips to the database. In this session we will explore how this caching mechanism works and identify how development decisions can influence or negate the use of this performance feature.

Configuring Financial Approvals and Workflows Within Dynamics AX - Part II Invoices
In this second of a two part session on financial workflows, we will focus on workflows around invoices. We will review the set up and operation of workflow around payables invoice access and approval, and also dive into the document management side of AP invoice workflow.

Lean Manufacturing – Tools to Help Figure it Out
Lean Manufacturing brings principles of flow, pull, and leveling into the manufacturing arena and along with it, a new set of terms and tools.  First developed at Toyota and proven worldwide in automotive, lean manufacturing is more challenging in make-to-order businesses with complex products, fluctuating demand, and varying cycle times.  These “high mix/low volume” operations can successfully implement lean principles with methodology and tools adapted to accommodate high levels of variation and complexity.  Understanding demand patterns and product segmentation as you design buffer strategies in your future state, you can eliminate waste, reduce lead times, and increase responsiveness to your customer.

Using PowerBI Within Office 365 To Free Your Dynamics AX Data
The PowerBI tools that Microsoft deliver on the desktop are great, but if you are an Office 365 user then you can take your reporting to the next level by making the reports and data available in the cloud.  You can publish your reports to Office 365 and make them available to everyone, and you can even connect Office 365 with your on premise data so that users are able to query key information though the web.  With the additional tools that are available through the online version of PowerBI like Power Q&A you can even ask for information as a question, and let Power BI do all the hard work for you. In this session we will show you how to configure PowerBI within Office 365 and also show you all of the new and nifty features that it provides.

UDI, DSCSA, and Microsoft Dynamics AX - Now That's a Mouthful!
In an ongoing effort to mitigate the risks patients are exposed to when using medical devices and pharmaceutical drugs, the FDA has recently enacted two regulations for companies in these industries. Unique Device Identifier (UDI) regulations require most medical devices distributed in the United States to be documented and tracked. The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requires pharmaceutical companies to include product transaction information in an electronic or paper record every time ownership of the product or material is transferred. Underestimating the scope and scale of these regulations could put your company at risk. In this session, we will discuss real-world applications of UDI and DSCSA using Microsoft Dynamics AX – while diving into the fits, gaps, and solutions for complying with regulations and mitigating the risk associated with non-compliance.

BI Implementation Options vs. BI Integration Options with Dynamics AX 2009
In any business or organization, access to information can be critical to achieving overall business success. Yet across the organizational spectrum, from the individual worker to executives steering overall strategy, people today often feel engulfed by information—too much of it, stored in too many places, with no efficient process for pulling it together, extracting what’s needed, and making sense of the results. Straight Talk - Business Intelligence and Dynamics AX 2012 – Clearing the Fog
Yes, there are great out of the box BI options available in Dynamics AX 2012, and yes there are limitations.  For companies wanting true BI capabilities, you need to understand these limitations to avoid costly mistakes. We have been implementing BI with Dynamics AX since Axapta 3.0, and this session will be a frank discussion regarding ‘best fit’ options when deploying BI in Dynamics AX 2012. We will review all native Dynamics AX BI capabilities including Pro’s and Con’s; demo our unique approach developed from 10 years of lessons learned; and discuss what comes next – Evolving BI capabilities for competitive advantage.

The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance---What Women Should Know
When the 2013 U.S. Census was released, one of the key findings was from 2002-2012 there had been no progress in women's pay equity with women's earnings remaining at 78% of men's earnings. In that same year, Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, released her book "Lean In", which got people talking again about women in the workplace. The unique perspective Sandberg brought to the conversation was an element of personal accountability, and she encouraged women to speak up, stay engaged, and answer the question: "What would you do if you weren't afraid?". Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, two prominent journalists and the authors of the already successful Womenomics, continue the conversation with their book, "The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance---What Women Should Know", released in April of 2014. This book brings science and psychology together to define confidence for women and how we can further our goals by engaging in four key behaviors: less people pleasing, more action instead of perfectionism, more risk taking, and faster failure. This is a cross conference session and will be shared by other User Group members.

Data Integrity for Manufacturers, Yep It's Important!
At the end of the day, our goal as planners is to meet demand with forward looking supply in a manner that provides maximum customer service at least cost with the least working inventory. The system recommendations are only as good as the data and assumptions you feed it. While, with current technology, there is no such thing as a practical way to find the best possible plan, any improvement in the data quality should yield a better plan. So what is the data and can we improve its quality?

Increase Efficiency and Streamline Order Processing with an Integrated eCommerce Website
In 2013, online U.S. retail sales were $262.5 billion with B2B eCommerce sales reaching $559 billion. These numbers have continued to grow year after year which means reaching your customers how, when and where they shop holds more importance than ever. With the evolution of technology, consumers have grown used to living in a world where they are always connected. This is in part why today’s consumer demands an omni-channel experience that is constant across all touch points a business chooses to use. Whether you’re selling online or thinking about selling online, choosing to integrate Microsoft Dynamics NAV with your frontend web store will increase efficiency and help create a more complete and synchronized online ordering environment. Join us for this session to learn eCommerce trends & best practices, tips for implementing an omni-channel strategy and how integrated eCommerce can improve efficiency and streamline order processing.
